What I am Reading

Image
I was not much of a reader until I finished college.  Since then, I have finished about about 7 or 8 books.  OK, that is not a lot, but it is more than what I had finished before.  These are the two books that I am reading right now.  Sorry I have ADD when it comes to reading.  Decisions Points", by George Bush has been on that I have had for a few years.  I have just picked it back up and half way through it.  I was not really a big fan of Bush as President, but I have enjoyed learning why he made the decision he did.  It really is a good read.    "A Hero Rises", is a book written by Jason Mow.  Jason was in my ward.  It is about Moroni, who is one of the main characters out of the Book of Mormon.  I am about two chapters into the book.

More Please!!!

OK, I would love more ties.  I sometimes see someone wear a great looking tie and say I want that one.  But I don't need more ties, but I really want more travel.   OK, this is the second time I said OK, but this coming from the guy that works for an airline and wants more travel.  I already have plans to go to Ireland this year, but I would like to go to more place.  But to go to more places, I need more money and that is why I work overtime.  So more money for more travel!! Please!!!

Political Dreams

From time to time, I do have some interesting dreams, which I do not understand at all.  The other night was one of those dreams.  Most of my dreams are about work and making reservations that are crazy.  But this one had to deal with politics.  I was at a party after the Presidential campaign.  I was talking to a companion that was with me, who was asking me why we were there.  This was a party for the other political party.  I told him it was for research.  How do you learn about your political rival, then being at there parties.   President Obama got up to speak, and half way through the speech, he falls asleep.  I was shocked, how could one of the worlds most powerful speaker fall asleep in the middle of his own speech? So the funny thing is, I woke up and turned on the news.  No one was talking about it.  It was not real.

Three of a kind

Image
OK, so why 3 flash drives?  Well they all do the same think, hold and store data files, but all are different.  Everyone hold different things on them.  The one in middle, is one that my sister gave to me for a birthday.  I have had that one flash drive since 2005.  It holds data from classes from Arizona State, pictures, and my current resume.  It also has the smallest storage space of all three, with only 512MB.  The black one holds 2GBs, and the green one with 8GBs.  So all of them are one of a kind, but all 3 of a kind!

My Favorite Part of the Day

Image
I guess my favorite time of day is lunch or dinner.  On the weekends, my days off, I spend a little bit more money and buy food that I don't normally eat during the week.  Some of you are saying OK, but why get Pete's.  It really is not the best food in the world, and I have never ever been a fan of there fish.  But this is comfort food for me.  Something I have eaten since I was 9 or 10.  I have always gotten a Mosterburger or  Chicken Nuggets, or sometimes both.  Sometimes it is just corn dog with Frings (Onion rings and Fries). But I can not wait to eat lunch or dinner on the weekends because I know I will be eating something good.

Update April 17

So the picture blog for April had to take the back set for awhile.  I only have a few hours of Internet time from Monday thru Saturday.  I don't like writing on the IPhone.  But life kind of caught up with me this week.  We got an order for a few parts for the business that I had with my father.  This kind of took up some of my extra time this week and the blog had to take the hit.    But I hope to try to catch up.

Hobby

Image
My Grandfather with his brothers.  My Grandfather is the one in the bottom middle. Ralph Cheshire Ramsay and Amilia Frost So you are asking why do I have an old newspaper clipping and an old picture?  Well my hobby is Genealogy.  I have been into genealogy since I was 25.  I have had fun finding out my families history.  I have learned that I am just three generations from relatives that came here form England and Denmark.  I have a relative that was a master wood carver, that when he came to Utah, carved things for the Temple, Tabernacle, and several personal ideas for Brigham Young.  On my dad's side, I know that one side of the family were religious refugees (Not Jewish) from Germany, via Ireland.   The discovery of a new name and a new line, a new place, is exciting.  What brought then there and what did they do.  All fun and interesting facts in doing ones genealogy. #30daychallenge

Where I would Rather Be.

Image
Every time I open up my laptop I am greeted with this picture.  I took this picture back in 2007.  If it looks familiar, think back to the movie Forest Gump.  This is were he stopped his run in the movie.  At one time there was a marking stating the fact.  This was taken in the La Sal Mountains just outside Moab, Utah.  This is one of the two places I would rather be.  I have a relative that lives there, and always welcomes us to stay with her when we are in town.  There is so much to see and do.  Traveling through Monument Valley is an add bonus to the trips.  I have always discover something new every time I go back.  Hoping to go back soon! The Picture is of Dunluce Castle.  It is in Northern Ireland.  Not many people have been here, because the hear Northern Ireland, and they think Terrorist.   But it has been a quiet place for a while now.  I love all of Ireland and could spend my time in almost any part of the Island.    But these are the places I would rather be.

A Taste of Spring

Good Together

Image
Around this time of year, for LDS (or Mormons) we get a break from the normal 3 hour block of church meetings, and have 6 hours of General Conference broadcast, and another two hours for the young men and men of the church.   Conference generally is the first weekend in April, So most years General Conference and Easter are on the same weekend.  So nothing better than Easter candy and conference.  Two things that go good together.  Oh and then you see someone talking in Conference that you know.  This is Wilfred Andersen of the Seventy.  He was in the Stake Presidency were I once lived, and his brother was my bishop when I had just gotten married. #30daychallenge

Shapes

Image
The the next challenge is shapes.  So you are asking, why there a picture of race car here and not a shape.    But if you really look at it closely, you will see many shapes in play here. One of the most important shape here is the circle. Just think if the wheel had not been invited, were would we be.  For a race car the circle, at first, is not perfect.  To get the most out of the car and the tires, you do not fill them up with the higher  amount of air.  As the tires heat up, the air in the tires expands.  So the car has better grip at the beginning of a run. Also the wedge shape of the 944 Porsche, makes the car more aerodynamic.  That means that it push through the air more effectively.  I really do not know how fast I ever got with this car, but I would have to say some were in the 160's. #30daychallenge

Waking up at 4 A.M.

Waking up at 4 am, I decided to go through my play list on my phone.  Hearing “You be Illin” brings back to my junior year in High School.  “One Step Beyond” reminds me of a friend that got me into the group Madness.  But listening to the song “Crazy for You” brings back to church dances as a teenager. From the age of 14, I went to the church dances every weekend.  I would meet up with my friends, until I turned 16, and then I became most of the time, the ride to the dance.  But at the dance something would happen to me.  I was there to be with my friends and not for the dancing.  For me, I was always just a little bigger than everyone else.  I was afraid that there were no girls that wanted to dance with me.  Most nights ended up dance with my friend Heather at least once.  And so I would be at a dance at where I only dance once.  There was one night that I made it the whole night without dance one dance.  These dances were torture, but I went every week. Now I hear that so

In My Hand

Image
In my hand is my Nikon D90.  I have had this for about 10 years.  But it is not the only camera that I own.  I also have a Minolta X700 and a Minolta X750.  But the Nikon is the one that I use the most because it is digital. I have always had a camera since I was a little kid.  I guess I was meant to be a photographer, but I am my own worst enemy.  I don't like to take pictures of people (see " What is still on my SD Card "), but I will do it when I am asked.  I like to take pictures of landscapes. Moab, Utah, and Monument Valley one of my favorite places go. But I my photography has lead me to some interesting experience.  If anyone has gotten the Dials Christmas Cards the past few years, I have been the one taken the pictures.  That has lead to some great shots of the kids.  At one points I was asked to me the ward Photographer.  This was a great experience in that I had to take pictures of people and not have to worry about posing them.  During this time I w

Something Purple

Image
My mother's best friend, Bev Turley, and probably my number 1 blog fan, has challenged me to post a photo blog for the month of April.  So Today's change is something purple.  The first thing I thought of was my old car, my 1969 Chevelle.  But just before Christmas, my best friend asked me to do their Christmas card photos.  This little guy is Dawson,  He is one of my best buds.  Sometimes he greets me at the door and just starts talking and talking, even though no one understands.  He loves to watch one of the videos that I have on my phone.  And he love to bet me up all the time and can have fun for hours doing this. #30dayblogchallange
