Tennessee

One of the things that I really don't talk about is growing up in Tennessee. Of all of the 200 plus stories I have written here, I have only 3 about my childhood there.  We moved to Chattanooga when I was three months old,  just after my dad had gotten out of the Air Force.  From what my mom, told me, we almost did not live there, because of the racial tension of the time.

My earliest memories of there is when we lived in East Ridge.  I remember we lived off of Close Rd.  This is also the place that my sister was born and my first experience with race cars, motorcycles, and classic cars.  I remember that we only had a one car garage at the time, and that my dad had a Porsche Speedster in it.  At the time we had a cat that went missing for a few days.  well after a while we found her with her kittens in the Speedster.

In 1974 we moved up to Harbor Circle, where we lived until we moved in 1978 to Arizona.  The Harbor Circle house was at the top of a hill that on a good day, you could see Chickamauga Lake thru the trees.  We lived so close to the lake that it was a short drive and we could go fishing.

In 1983 we moved back to Tennessee and lived on Audubon Trail.  Though this was a tough time, this was a blessing to our family.  Shortly after move back, it was discover that there was a tumor on my sisters spine. They were able to remove it and she was in a cast for three month that made her look like a turtle.  By August we were move back to Arizona.

Even though I live in Arizona, Tennessee is in my heart.
