The Tie of the Day: December 23

The Tie of the Day December 23  The Travel Tie I know some are asking here, why are you wearing a travel tie at this time of year?  I know it is normally all Christmas Ties this time of year, but today was a special day.  Today I graduated from my Reservations Class at work.  OK, so were are still in On the Job Training for the rest of the week (tomorrow and Friday).  But we still have our 90 day probation and 120 probation periods to complete.  So we are half way through the 90.  So let here it to Class 4007, all ten of use that made it this far!

Was out shooting pictures for a friends Christmas Card, and was able to capture this.  It has been a while that I have used my skills to do what I really love.  Oh and I took about 20 pictures of the family, but this was one of a few of the local landscape that I took.

The Tie of the Day November 16 The Sun the Moon and the Stars As you know, I don't like to wear the same tie twice in a year unless I have too.  Well this is a little different.  I wore this tie earlier in the year when the Gilbert, Arizona Temple was dedicated.  Well on Sunday I got to attend the dedication of the Phoenix, Arizona Temple, at my stake center.  For LDS Members (Mormons) Temple are special places of worship.  It is a place that many of use can feel closer to God.

The Tie of the Day November 9th My Republican Party Tie Got this at one of the state conventions that I attended.  10 years ago, I was really heavy into to politics until I started seeing some problems with the party that I loved, and it had to involve the leadership.  So I left in 2004.  Still miss it and would love to serve in an elected office, or be on someones staff.  But I think that dream died in 2004.

Update Oct 22, 2014

Image
So I am sorry that I have not been posting for so long.  Since I don't have Wifi, I have to get my Internet service basically at the library.  Plus, I started my new job on Monday (Oct 20) and I had to do some studying for that before I started.  I am also sorry that Tie of the Day has been somewhat delayed.  Just have not been on much the past few days. I started working for US. Airways on Monday.  On Tuesday there was a test on 75 airport codes.  So since my hiring date, I have been studying over 153 airport codes.  You have to get a 90%  to stay employed.  So I studied hard and got a 97%.  I missed 2 codes out of 75.  So I will continue to go to work tonight. First Day of Work!

One of the First Soap Opera's Ever Recorded, Revisited

I still find it interesting what I find in reading the Bible, that parts of stories are left out.  As I posted before the story of Jacob and Esau, I was happy to see that there is somewhat a happy ending to the story. We read in Genesis 31, Jacob moves his large family to Canaan.  The problem is, this is where Esau is living.  So in Genesis 32, Jacob prays to God , that he may be preserved from being killed by his brother. But as we learn in Genesis 33, Jacob has no need to worry. Genesis 33: 1-7 1 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.  2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hinder  most.  3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.  4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, an

One of the First Soap Opera's Ever Recorded.

I find this as one of the most interesting stories in the Bible.  This of all the stories that have been told, this one could have been written by a soup opera writer.  We have the birth of twins to Isaac.  Esau being born first and Jacob coming second, holding on to the heal of his brother as he is being born.  Esau was loved by Isaac, and Jacob was loved by Rebekah.  Esau grows to be this great hunter, were Jacob is somewhat a home body.  Esau is out hunting one day and becomes faint. And this is where the birthright was sold. Genesis 25:  29-34. 29 ¶And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:  30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.  31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.   32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?  33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and

Limited Service Again!

Again I have limited access to the Internet.  But this time is a little different, because I do have my laptop and I am able to have apps that I can load on it that I can use without the Internet at times.  I have Microsoft Word, which allows me to write things down.  It is hard to do that at times on a phone.  I also have the LDS Gospel Library on my computer.  This allows me to do my daily scripture study, and then I can make notes in Word from my studies.  But my Internet usage is about three hours a day, six days a week.  I just got my phone turned back on.  There was a misunderstanding on when the payment would be there, and even though I kept good contact with them, they turned off my serve and would not turn it back on until they received the payment.  I am not complaining, because I really can see their point of view. I did not have a phone for 10 days.  I was going through some things at this time, and having a phone would have really helped out.  Most of the time, I

Does God Answer Prayers?

Image
Sometime I wonder if my prayers are in vain.  I wonder why, I have been praying so hard, and praying with real intent, why are my prayers not answered?  And why does God not answer mine prayers when he answers others, or so they say. I have been told to pray harder, or that I have not been asking the right question of the Lord?  That I am not exercise enough faith? And even been told to change the way I pray?  That one really gets me, because what do I change up?  What am I saying that is wrong to God?  But how do I change, when I have no idea what I am doing wrong.  I was in a long distanced relationship with a woman, who always encouraged me to pray for what I needed.  I have been praying really hard the past year for a job, but nothing has come.  The past few months have been great, because I have had a lot of job interviews, but no offer for jobs yet. I use to pray with the woman I was in a relationship with, over the phone.  At times it felt really weird, because, w

The Tower of Babel

In getting back to reading the scriptures, I have been reading the Bible as my daily scripture study.  I have always liked the stories from the Bible and find the history very interesting.   So last week I was a little disappointed when I read the story about the Tower of Babel.  I can’t tell you how long it has been since I last read the Old Testament, but it has been a very long time.  So somewhere I got in my mind that this was a really big story, that God came down and rained terror on the people for building the tower.  That he came down and destroyed it.  But when you start reading Genesis 11, I did not get this from the writer at all. In Verse 2, we learn that this is in the land of Shinar.  The next verse, we learn how they make bricks and use slime as mortar.  It is in verse 4, that the city and the tower are built. In Verses 5-8, this is where the Lord comes down and sees what the people are doing.  That they were of one language and one in building the tower, a

The Search to Being Normal

All my life I have wanted to be like everyone else.  I wanted to be normal.  But some will question what true normal is.  I can remember being young, that I knew, I was not like everyone else.  I was born with both physical and some mental deficits.  Everything on my left side is about 1/2 inch short than my right.  I also have a weakness on that side.  The mental is dyslexia. I remember as a child, have to wear braces on my legs.  I do not remember how long I was wearing them, but I do remember seeing them in my closest when I was about 6.  When we moved to Arizona, I remember being called out of class and have people make me preform exercises to see what my range of mobility was.  Going to the nurses office every year for the scoliosis test was fun.  They would look at my spine and then say, oh it is the Close kid and that was it. My left foot turned in, and there was no heel tow action in it.  Over time, I learned how to turn it to look normal.  If I get tired I do limp.  But,

When I went looking for my favorite scene from Notting Hill, it has it listed as the best proposal ever.  But I do not see it that way.  I always saw it as someone asking to love them.  Just a simple request, but I think it is something that we are all looking for.  I know that is what I have really wanted for the last two years, and I thought I had found that 8 months ago. She came into my life last November, asking me if I was this creepy missionary in our mission (Ireland, Dublin Mission).  But we continued to talk.  I was not looking to getting into a relationship at all. At the time (and still don't) really do not have much to offer.  I have been somewhat under employed and now going through a divorce and losing a house.  But she pushed and pulled, and a relationship started. By the end of January, I am divorced, and the conversation moves to I think we are perfect matches and that you should come up.  I had no way at paying at the time so she paid to fly me out

Blog Update Sept 11

As I sit here today, I remember this day as the world some what stopped!  The noise of aircraft gone from over head.  Going to school and discuss for the day was New York, in my Congress Class.  American Flags popping up all over the place and on cars.  Wondering who and why?  This was my September 11th 13 years ago today. But today I write this blog about myself and the none sense that is my life.  As of last week I went over 200 post.  Working on a blog about Noah, and also one about his genealogy. I am living with an friend now, and I have Internet service as well as some cable service.  I miss playing the Xbox, but now I have room to do more stuff. Job search sucks!  I may have to move out of town.  Lived in Mesa for Thirty six years.

Limited Access

Today I am moving.  My Internet access will be limited, so my post to my blog my not be so often as before.  I am fine, but when I can use the Internet, it will be at the library, and that has a time limit.  So anything that I post in the near future will be something that I wrote before and paste to my blog. Thanks for all the support and reading some of my no sense.

The Genealogy of Adam

Image
This is one of the topics I have been researching in my scripture study.  Since I was 25, I have had an interest in genealogy.  I find it interesting to find that in Genesis 5, we have a full account of the linage from Adam to Noah.  I find it interesting the age that a person was when the the birth right child was born.  Also the ago at when they died.  The Genealogy of Adam Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born.  Adam died at the age of 930 years old. Seth was 805 years old when Enos was born.  Seth died at the age of 912 years old. Enos was 90 years old when Cainan was born.  Enos was 840 when he died. Cainan was 70 years old when Mahalaleel was born.  Cainan was 910 when he died. Mahalaleel  was 65 year old when Jared was born.  Mahalaleel  was 830 when he died. Jared was 162 year old when Enoch was born.  Jared was 962 when he died. Enoch was 65 years old when Methuselah was born.  Enoch was translated, or never died. Methuselah was 1

The Tie of the Day August 24  Political Campaign Pin Tie.  Most are asking why I am wear this now and not the first Sunday in November.  Well, in Arizona, Tuesday is Primary Day, were we select from the parties who will run for office in November.  So if you are a voter, go out and vote in Arizona, for your favorite candidate, on Tuesday!

Life Update.

I have been living be hind "I am fine" for to long now, and this is what really is up with me.  I guess you can say that I am not fine at all.  I have to moving by next Sunday, no job, and only $5 dollars to my name. Moving:  I have to be out by the 1st.  Nina, is moving her brother in, who needs a place to stay.  I do not want anyone to have bad feeling for Nina or Dustin, for they have let me stay here since I lost the house.  But where I am going, I do not have a clue.  Still working on that.  My Bishop said he would help me with rent. A Job:  I have been honestly looking for work the past year.  I have had friends help out and the jobs just not been there.  I do not know what it is about me, what I am doing wrong.  But so far if it requires an assessment test or a typing test I am failing. I have had some interviews the past two months, but get the letter the next day that they are going with other candidates.  Today's was the best though, they said they were tur

What's on Tonight?

For the last 9 months, I have not had T.V. service.  For me it is a real lose, because it was not only entertainment, but it was also way I stayed informed and educated.  You may question education, but I did like watching at lot of historical stuff and documentaries.  But there are some things I do not miss. So here is what I miss: Racing:  I have not seen many races this year.  I can not tell you who has won many races this year.   Football:  I ended up watching most of the bowl games  at other peoples houses.  I saw the Super Bowl at Dallas Dail's home.  I do not know what I am going to do next week with the start of the season.   Soccer:  I have missed the opening week of the Premier League and Champions League.  Don't have any money to go to a pub to set there and watch.  So I have to find out who wins online.  Not happy. The Local News.  I know that I listen to talk radio most of the day, but you do not get the 5 day forecast on the radio, and a lot of stations h

My Tuesday Night

Last night was a little weird.  I got a call from my friend Del Mar, to come over.  This was about 7 PM. So I get there and he tells me a friend and church member from my old ward (Lazona), Ben Miali had been burned that day, over 85 percent of his body, and that he was not expected to live very long.  While still there, I got a text from my ex wife, say that he had died a few hours ago. When I left the ward back in January, Ben was an instructor in Elders Quorum.  He would admit that he was not that well versed in the gospel topics, but he really did well at teaching them. When the call went out that I need help moving things into storage, he was there on a Saturday, but also on Sunday, with a smile on his face.  Boy that is what I will miss, is that smile.  I am glad that he has past that onto his kids. I stayed and Help Dalton with half of his home work.  Dalton considers me is Best Adult Friend. And with the friendship comes some interesting questions from a nine year old.  I

Oh How Times have Changed!

I wrote this in May 2011. So I know that there have been more changes. I was out with my Friend Del Mar, picking up pizza, when I realized how things had changed in my town of Mesa.  We were at the Domino's at Broadway and Gilbert.  He came back with the pizzas and I said,” I remember when this was a Circle K."  As we left I pointed out that next to that was the Taco Bell, the old location of Domino's, and the Tasty Freeze, all of which are gone. I was with my dad the other day, and we past LJ's Pizza on Main.  He had told me it was closing soon.  Well I did not know how soon it was, until I read it was this Saturday.  This made me think of how Main Street had really changed since we moved here in 1978.  So here are some of the changes I have noticed in my drive up Main Street.  Let’s start this trip at Main and Mesa Drive. Well on the South west corn was Pete's, well it has moved just a little south.  On the North side, Berge Ford.  They moved down t

So what Pandora Channels do you Listen to?

I thought I would lighten things up.  The topics have been so heavy, that I thought I would do something fun and maybe interactive.  But when I asked for your input before, I got little to no response, so lets try it again. I love 80's music, but I do like to switch things up at times. Most of my ITunes music library is mostly 80's.  So that is what I like about Pandora.  I can have my 80's music, but I can have country, jazz, and instrumental.  I also like it because you can customize it to every ones taste and likes.  This was always an argument in the car, who's channel are you going to listen to.  My ex wife would only listen to country, and I just could not do that 24/7.  I needed talk radio most of the time and love the opinions on different topics. But, like I said, I do like to listen to other stuff.  So here is my Pandora Play list: "Weird Al" Yankovic Radio,   80's Pop Radio,    80's Alternative AC/DC,                                B

Mental Illness, Depression, and Suicide, and what the LDS Church has to say about it,

After the death of Robin Williams, do to a suicide, it made me think of the churches stance on mental illness, depression and suicide.  I was sitting in a Elders Quorum meeting several months ago, and they were talking about repentance.  One person spoke up and said that the major cause of depression was ones feeling sorry for there sins.  As a person who has suffered from depression for many years, I knew that my depression was not because I had sin or for the choices I made in life.  Though no one knew about my fight with depression, there were a few that spoken up against this view point. Last October Conference, Elder Jeffery R Holland gave a talk entitled, "Like a Broken Vessel. Listen to what Elder Holland has to say on the subject of mental illness and depression. In the matter of suicide, the Church's Handbook #2 states this: It is wrong to take a life, including one’s own. However, a person who commits suicide may not be responsible for his or her acts.
