Underground Car Guy

I was not much of a reader until I finished college.  Since then, I have finished about about 7 or 8 books.  OK, that is not a lot, but it is more than what I had finished before.  These are the two books that I am reading right now.  Sorry I have ADD when it comes to reading.  Decisions Points", by George Bush has been on that I have had for a few years.  I have just picked it back up and half way through it.  I was not really a big fan of Bush as President, but I have enjoyed learning why he made the decision he did.  It really is a good read.    "A Hero Rises", is a book written by Jason Mow.  Jason was in my ward.  It is about Moroni, who is one of the main characters out of the Book of Mormon.  I am about two chapters into the book. 

I guess that I am some what a religious person, but that being said, I am also Mormon which most people know.  I guess I do not hide it very well.  But today I have to announce that I finished reading the Book of Mormon.  You are saying big deal, right.  Well, it is for me, because I have not read it in almost 24 years. This major piece of my churches cannon, I have not read it in such a long time. The reason is pretty simple, laziness.  I did not see any reason for it.  I am not a reader as it is anyway.  But for me, it was like, why read something that I have been reading since seminary and my mission.  I was not taken a break from it, but just did not see the point.  I knew what it said, I believe it, and I knew I would be called in at church to read selected verses from it from time to time, and that is all I needed. It is amazing that as I read, how the things I was reading, applied to what I was learning in Sunday school class. ...

I have had this as something that I wanted to write about for a while now.  When I read this Chapter in the Alma, he made understand the difference between Pride and Righteous Pride.  I thought this was how every, or how I hope, every missionary coming home from there mission felt.  For me it has taken awhile to realize the great work that I did in Ireland. In Alma 26, Ammon and his brothers are coming home from there mission. And it starts off in verse one: 1  And now, these are the words of Ammon to his brethren, which say thus: My brothers and my brethren, behold I say unto you, how great reason have we to rejoice; for could we have supposed when we  started  from the land of Zarahemla that God would have granted unto us such great blessings? Since the beginning of the year I have been reading The Book of Mormon. Some mornings it is just reading.  Sometime I come across things that make me ask question, nothing really faith challenging, but question.  If I say Dragons some will understand.  And then there are the ones that will stay with you and mean something to you forever.  This happened to me this morning while reading Alma 7 verse 23. This is Alma the Younger's mission as High Priest, to the City of Gideon.  He is preaching to the people about the coming of Christ. In my reading of the Book of Mormon, I have come across something that I have always wondered about.  No, this is nothing that is going to shake the foundation of the church or cause me to leave the church.  But as I have been reading about Lehi's family, I have come across one thing that bothers me.  We know that Lehi's wife's name is Sariah, but that is it. In 1 Nephi 16 Lehi sons finally marry, and in verse 7, Nephi takes a wife.  But what was her name.  Then in 2 Nephi 5:6 we find this out: 6  Wherefore, it came to pass that I, Nephi, did take my family, and also  a Zoram  and his family, and Sam, mine elder brother and his family, and Jacob and Joseph, my younger brethren, and also my sisters, and all those who would go with me.
